Longboarding is a sport growing by leaps and bounds. Our first annual event held in Cathlamet Washington began in August of 2009. This skateboard event started as an idea for a push race around nearby Puget Island, and has turned into a multiple interest event know around the world in the growing longboard community. It's perhaps the most fun you can pack into a weekend, even if you don’t skate, as evidenced by the many local spectators. This year is going to be bigger than ever.

Friday night kicks off with the Slide Competition and Tight Slalom, starting at the same intersection but running in a V shape. The Slide hill has a great 10 degree grade with some run out room where the road ends at the Columbia River. The tight slalom is approximately 50 cones on a gentler grade, but so tight that run time is about 12 seconds. Saturday morning we have a grueling 7.5 mile Push Race on Puget Island, flat as a pancake and with patches of asphalt rough enough to make you lose feeling in your legs. Mid day we have our urban slalom the "Sidewalk Showdown" in town.

Longboard RacersThis is a challenging course for both downhill and slalom competitors as it involves a slalom, course and timing system with city obstacles like ramps and curbs. Early Saturday evening we have a new event, a four man boardercross type competition. Four racers head to head down an obstacle course is the simplest way to describe this event. Sunday we have the Downhill Race right through downtown Cathlamet. Between the grades of the hill, the turns, and the way the chicane on Catastrophe Corner is banked, it's a very challenging course. Add in ramps, and it's a monster. We have seen international competitors as well as those from Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Washington, Oregon and multiple provinces in Canada for all the events.
